Thee, Thy and thou's

Not too many people understand the old English in the king James Bible, but with a little practice, when you discover the meaning of "thee, thou and ye" you'll find a new meaning has opened up for you.

I am not a “King James only” person, as I have several versions which when checked all help to explain what ever I need explaining, but, well,

In the older English there are separate words for a single person and a group of people.

The King James Version was published in High English in 1611. Other than spelling changes, it remains in High English today.

But today, when buying a new Bible, many Christians ask for a new version without thee’s and thou’s.

They are tired of old words that they no longer use in everyday speech. Many of them want to read the Bible like a novel, in the street language of modern English.

To explain a little talking to some one, just one person, in the old English the words as in thee and thou always start with a "T"

When talking to a group of people, or a crowd, it's always with a "Y" as in "ye" and "you" and "your"

Here are some example verses: (I took all the examples in the new English from the New King James version)

Luke ch 22 v 31-32: And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you,( all of them, not just Peter, if it was just Peter it would have been "Thee") that he may sift you( all of them, not just Peter) as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you,( just Peter) that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

Listen to Jesus’ answer to Caiaphas in Mathew 26, during His trial Jesus had refused to answer this wicked man, for the charges were false.

Mathew 26 v 63-64: And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!” Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, (all of them)hereafter you( all of them) will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Mathew 26 v 63-64:And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

63 But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto him, “Thou ( just Caiaphas) hast said: nevertheless I say unto you,( everybody) Hereafter shall ye (all of them) see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven”

John 4 19-22: The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye ( all the Jews)say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye( all the Samaritans) shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye( Samaritans) worship ye ( Samaritans) know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

New King James: Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You( all of the Samaritans) worship what you ( all of the Samaritans) do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews.

Another version: The woman said to him, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet.20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.” 21 Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.

O.T too
In Jeremiah 5:13-14 the Lord says: "And the prophets shall become wind, and the word is not in them: thus shall it be done unto them. Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because YE ( the prophets) speak this word, behold, I will make my words in THY (Jeremiah) mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them."

There are lots more comparisons, so it might be a good idea not to part with the old faithful king James Bible just yet
