The prodigal son.....

The story of the prodigal son is such a familiar story.....isn't it?

Every time I have heard a sermon on this story, that Jesus told, it is always about the son who wanted his share and left the home and spent it all and came back.....

And that is a beautiful way to show God's love.....but.....

I think this story is about the father!

I really do!

My dad often stood outside his front door, hoping and waiting....to see my brother come home!

My brother had gone away....not run away, but just...... left home!

My dad missed him......he never said...but we all knew he did.....we, his sisters and one other brother were still at home....

safe.....like the 99 sheep...safe in the fold, but the shepherd went and started looking for the one that was lost....not in the fold....
I often wondered about the 99 that were left, but the shepherd obviously "knew" they were safe....
just like my dad "knew" we, his other children were safe....but he would be watching out, standing at the front door, for my brother, just in case he decided to return home....

That is how I see the father, the dad, of the prodigal son.
We only read in one sentence...that the son was coming home....and his father was watching out for him, to see if he could see him....in the distance.

I wonder just how many days...weeks of days....had he stood there....watching for his son to come home....
That is how I see it! The father......GOD the Father.....watching for days and weeks of days....waiting for His prodigals to come back home to Him

I beg you, don't keep Him waiting much longer.....we are running out of time...
The return of Jesus is imminent.....it can happen any moment!
Don't wait till it's too late......come home NOW!
Bless you

Have a blessed day

Have a Blessed day,

I am looking out into the backyard and it looks beautiful. There’s a bit of a fog today, yesterday there was a big white frost....we have the air conditioner going and it’s lovely and warm, inside!

Yet, if you walk outside you find that, what you see from the window, is not exactly the same, once you go outside.

The trees and the plants bear the cost of the frosts that we have been having. The grass crackles underfoot, and it is not warm and cosy, like it is inside!

This is how it is with sin.

Sin can look so beautiful, and inviting......sin calls out to us promising what it cannot give.

It is only when you are in the midst of sin that you see the results.

If you were to go to a club your would see people drinking and dancing the night away. They are all laughing and seem to be having a wonderful time!

But.....you do not see the after affects, of over indulging, when people are slumped over the toilet throwing up all that fun......

or feel the headache from the hangover, the next morning.

Cheating on your spouse can seem like fun at first.

The sneaking around and getting away with it for awhile. It all seems so “normal” when we see it in the movies or T.V. sit coms and other serials.

But TV and movies don't often show the result of families torn apart, and broken hearts like broken glass, scattered everywhere.

Sin is like a hook with bait, it entices us to want to take a nibble and then when Satan is through with us, he throws us away like a dirty paper towel.

God wants us to avoid sin. Some people think that God wants to keep us from having fun.

The truth is God wants to keep us from being hurt.

God says to us that He can give us joy without a hangover, or a broken home.

God warns us about sin because He loves us. Yet, when we do sin, He is merciful and forgives us.

He brings healing to our hearts and lives, even after we feel we are destroyed for ever.

As His children, let us seek to stay afar away from sin as possible.

Never let us be guilty of seeing just how much we can get away with.......Instead let us walk so close to Jesus that we can recognize the call of sin as soon as we see it and stay away from it, like we would a dangerous snake.

Remember Satan chose to bring sin in this world by a snake and sin's bite is just as dangerous as a poisonous snake.
Have a blessed day.

Why the Holy Spirit is the Restrainer...............

By Peter Garcia

Confusion and denial over the role and Deity of the Holy Spirit has been a pervasive heresy in Christendom since Modalism was first introduced in the 2nd and 3rd centuries, a new confusion has been recently reintroduced. Although this view is not over the Deity of God the Holy Spirit, but over the varying roles in which He has participated in since Genesis 1:2, and what He will do on into the future.

Marvin Rosenthal introduced a book entitled The Pre-Wrath Rapture of the Church which offered up an alternative view to the Pre, Mid, and Post Tribulation Rapture views that had been debated for millennia. Subsequently, Mr. Rosenthal’s work opened a flood gate of similar and divergent views as he was followed by Robert Van Kampen and many, many others who have carried this particular eschatological torch to our current day.

The Pre-Wrath view supports the idea that the remnant faithful are delivered in a Rapture event at the Seventh Seal Judgment. For Pre-Wrath, the Seal Judgments are ongoing once opened and allows for the Church to proceed three-quarters of the way into the seventh year, 70th Week of Daniel. Three-quarters of the way in takes them past the midpoint, but delivering them just prior to the Day of the Lord and the subsequent Wrath of God.

The Pre-Wrath view has brought certain issues to light and one in particular that is a ‘make or break’ passage for whether their view (or ours) is legitimately biblical or not. There simply isn’t any other way around it. That passage, is over the identity of this mysterious “Restrainer” and what that entails as the Apostle Paul mentions; (NKJV, emphasis mine)

7 For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.

8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

9 The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, (1) with all power, signs, and lying wonders,

10 and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

11 (2) and for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie,

12 that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thess. 2:8-11)

The problem is that this verse (vs. 7) forces the narrative of the following verses (vs. 8-11), to mean only one thing…essentially, that X can’t happen until Y does…which means, the Antichrist (man of lawlessness) CANNOT be revealed, UNTIL the one who restrains the Antichrist, is taken out of the way. That is simply the normal reading of the text and the way it was intended to be understood.

So the dilemma that both the Pre-Tribulation and Pre-Wrath Rapture views face then is that if the Holy Spirit is the Restrainer, then Pre-Wrath (and Post Trib) cannot be true, because we see in the First Seal Judgment (Rev. 6:1-2) unleashing the Antichrist upon the earth…and that means the Holy Spirit must be removed/moved out of the way before this man can be revealed. And since Christians are ‘sealed by the Holy Spirit’ as a guarantee until the day of redemption, the Holy Spirit’s removal would also remove those individuals He indwells and seals.

If the Holy Spirit is not the Restrainer, then the Pre-Trib view cannot be true because the Holy Spirit in His current role would remain on the earth, along with all those He seals and indwells as mentioned in the previous scripture references.
