about the thief on the cross...
. No baptism.... no communion.....
no confirmation..... no speaking in tongues..... no mission trip.....
no volunteering.....no Financial gifts.... and no church clothes..... he couldn't even bend his knees to pray.
He didn't say the sinner's prayer, and among other things....
he was a thief.....
Jesus didn't take away his pain; heal his body, or Smite his scoffers.... Yet it was a thief who walked into Paradise, the same hour as Jesus simply by believing he had nothing more to offer other than his belief that “Jesus was who he said he was”
No spin from brilliant theologians, no ego or arrogance, no shiny lights skinny jeans or crafty words, no Haze machine Donuts or coffee in the lobby just a naked dying man on a cross.
Unable to even fold his hands to pray, for “God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life” John 3 v 16, period.
Wow that just kind of cuts through everything doesn't it....
got a little emotional there..... yeah that's easy to do with something like this.... yes...
and so folks as we enter Holy Week, I hope that we would just keep our eyes fixed on what's really important.
Yes, the
grace of Godyou know, not modern day Christianity modern day Christendom which has done a masterful job at forgetting this simple concept you know people today are throwing around this word gospel all the time, yet very few people, I think, understand what it really means that we are saved.
completely on the basis of Grace fulfilling a condition.
the only condition that God requires which is Faith trust or confidence in the God man Jesus Christ,....
yes and that alone is what saves us, it doesn't matter if you’re rich or poor
it doesn't matter if you're a dispensationalist or a covenant Theologian
or reformed Theologian..
it doesn't matter what so-called race you belong to, or what your skin colour is it doesn't matter,
nothing matters when it comes to Eternity the only thing that matters is the grace of God and you receiving that....
as a gift by way of Faith.
So, as we gather in our different places of worship, let's just keep that on the Forefront of our thinking.
let's remember what the whole thing is about, and I would just say to anyone who has never received this Grace or trusted in the Saviour,
they can do that right now yes it's as the article indicates, the thief on the cross didn't get baptized he didn't pray the sinner's prayer, he didn't go to church,
so anybody out there that wants to be right with the God that made them, we would just suggest to them, to place their personal faith in Christ and Christ alone for salvation
Amen.
Blessings...
