We did our usual Wednesday Bible study today and we are discussing the 23rd Psalm..........

It is such a fantastic psalm…isn’t it?

We are up to verse 4 and it reads…
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.”

Now….how many times would I have read this and thought….

The staff and rod….. a comfort???

We read in Proverbs “Spare the rod and spoil the child…” so……. I always compared the rod with punishment….but…..

One of the ladies there suggested that we could look at the staff and the rod…as a protective tool….

If they were used as a deterrent to our enemies……

It would be the Lord…our Shepherd saying…

“Don’t worry I have my staff and my rod to ward off the enemy…”

I think that is a beautiful way of looking at them…don’t you?

And….a bye the bye….the first 3 verses are all good…..

1) The Lord is my shepherd….I shall not want

2) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures…

He leadeth me beside still waters…..

3) He restoreth my soul, he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

See…..that is all good…..It is like the Lord is making sure we are totally committed to knowing and believing that HE will totally watch over us and look after us…..
We shall not want……

We shall lie down….. He leads us besides still waters…..

See….it’s all good…

So…….the following will be good too…
.
As in verse 4 and continuing on.....….I like it……
Blessings….
Yaddy
